I know I haven't posted in quite a while but here is something to munch on while I research more larger topics. Check out this article and tell me what you think.
I honestly believe every one needs a break. Stress...especially from running a whole country can take its toll. And with much respect I have no problem with a president who needs a little down time. I must say though, that 150 rounds of golf...150 whole days taken off not to mention the already scheduled vacation time is questionable. That's not to say that other presidents haven't taken that much time off either....but Obama did promise "change." 150 days is nearly half a year. Half of a year out if the 4 1/2 he's been in office! I don't remember the last time my dad, who averages less than 4 hours of sleep a night under brutal and equally stressful physical, mental, and emotional conditions (who also serves this country) has taken a vacation. Time for golf? He would laugh.
I'm not going to lie. I sometimes (maybe even often) slack off on my homework a bit. I need rest from sports, my A.P classes, and even my part time job as a lifeguard. (Yes saving lives and telling little kids not to run can be stressful to!;) I understand that being responsible for millions of people and their futures can be overwhelming.) But over ten thousand people have died in the Phillipines this last week! The job description for being president, Mr. Obama does not call for sitting back and hitting the golf course in times like these. It many times requires the sacrifice of those much needed days off for the welfare of many more...and that is perhaps one of the major differences that sets his job apart from any other job of the world.
All other countries are watching the U.S., specifically my president....and just from my observations I must say, golfing is harmless but when it causes neglect of other duties, the time off can most certainly prove more destructive than beneficial.
